This patient had her TRAM breast reconstruction completely buried under her mastectomy flap on her left side. The way the general surgeon makes the incision up and down on the breast was because of where the tumor was on her chest and the need to take out the nipple areolar region during the cancer operation. The patient is shown with an old incision on her right lower abdomen that did not interfere with the tummy part of the TRAM.On the after image the patient is now 7 days after her nipple areolar procedure and right-sided mastopexy (breast lift). The Breast Reconstruction Act of 1998 mandates that your insurance cover procedures that match up the non-affected breast with the breast reconstruction. Her Left sided TRAM volume was already performed, and the Right sided lift and reduction is so she has good symmetry in her clothes.
She is very happy with her comfort, symmetry and how her tummy and trunk look!
