What is Rhinoplasty?

Wikipedia’s definition of rhinoplasty is: Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a plastic surgery procedure for correcting and reconstructing the form, restoring the functions, and aesthetically enhancing the nose by resolving nasal trauma (blunt, penetrating, blast), congenital defect, respiratory impediment, or a failed primary rhinoplasty. Most patients ask to remove a bump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, as well as correct injuries, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing, such as deviated nasal septum or a sinus condition.

Case 169

Age: 24
Weight: 125
Height: 5 ft. 7 in.
Gender: Female
Post-op Timeline: 6 months post-op

This beautiful 24 year old college student had some face trauma when she was a younger person and had some difficulty breathing through her nose. She never liked her nose shape and wished to undergo a rhinoplasty nose re-shaping surgery at the same time as fixing her airway. She is seen here at 6 months post op with a dorsum that is lower, a tip that is less projected and a harmony of her nose and tip and mid face that is very satisfactory to her. Her incision is in the line between the nostrils called the columella.  The rest of the incision is inside the nasal lining in order to access the septum and make her cartilages petite and adorable. She loves her nose!
