Sciton® Phototherapy/BBL™ – BroadBand Light

What is Sciton® Phototherapy/BBL™?

BBL™ BroadBand Light is a new approach to phototherapy that helps treat skin conditions that are a result of aging, sun damage and active life-styles. The BBL™ delivers light energy that gently heats the upper layers of skin which stimulates cells to produce new collagen, thus helping restore your skin to the younger-looking, smoother tones you desire. The photothermal energy will also get rid of those fine blood vessels that cause unwanted redness as well as reduce excess melanin which can produce pigmented lesions.

BBL™ may be used to precisely treat:

  • Sun spots, age spots, brown spots
  • Freckles/Lentigines
  • Facial spider veins
  • Rosacea
  • Port-wine stains
  • Acne
  • Red, inflamed scars
  • Cherry angioma
  • Hemangioma
  • Keratoses
  • Hyperpigmentation

What to Expect with BBL™ BroadBand Light Treatments

BBL™ BroadBand Light can be used to treat skin on all areas of your body. The number of treatments will vary depending on how many areas are involved. Our staff and Dr. Vanek will determine a treatment plan for you based on your individual needs. The procedure itself is gentle, non-invasive, safe and there is usually no need for a topical anesthetic. Though there is no downtime associated with this procedure, you will need to avoid exposure to direct sunlight until your skin has fully healed. Fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade, leaving your treated skin smoother and more youthful and vibrant.
